The national Day of Prayer is on Thursday, May 2nd

“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” - Matthew 18:19

God’s heart is that we have agreement and unity in our prayers. The key to power in praying together is a single focus. Prayer agreement leads to breakthrough.

That is why our churches in Roosevelt County are participating together in the National Day of Prayer.

The following churches will be open from 6 AM to 7 PM on that day for you to participate in agreeing prayer with other believers in our county:

3rd and Kilgore

Church of Christ

- 1701 and 3rd St

First Baptist Portales

- 100 S Avenue C

Calvary Baptist Church

- 1101 W 18th St

Continue reading below to learn about three ways you can participate and sign-up on line.

You can pray

You are encouraged to carve out an hour sometime hat day to go to one of the churches listed above to participate in this day of prayer. Each church will provide a quiet place for people to pray.

When you come into the church, you will be given instructions to guide you in your prayer participation:

1. You will invest time in introspection, using a personal inventory guide.

2. You will spend time in intercession:

    1) For our nation, using the National Day of Prayer prayer guide; and

    2)  For one another, using a County-wide Community Prayer List.

We are collecting prayer requests to pray over on that day.

3.   You will be given a guide to use in praying and interceding for our
county every month through-out the coming year.

Help us read the bible

over our community

Additionally, we will be reading God’s Word over our community at each location: At 3rd and Kilgore Church of Christ we will be reading through the Psalms and the New Testament; at Calvary Baptist Church, we'll be reading Genesis through Job; and First Baptist Church, we'll be reading Proverbs through Malachi.

Volunteers will sign up to read for 15 minutes at a time, If you want to read more than 15 minutes, simply sign up for more than one time slot.

The Bible reading will be done from the pulpit of each church's worship center and will be done out loud.

Serve as a host or hostess

We are also looking for volunteers to act as hosts during these 12 hours. Their job will be to make sure everyone who comes through the door is given the materials they need to participate in the prayer time and the directions to the quiet room set aside for prayer. Additionally, they will direct the Bible readers to the worship center and make sure they have all they need to participate in reading the Bible through.
